EUROSWITCH
Pressure sensors and pressure switches for industrial and automotive applications
Pressure switches are widely used in the industrial and automotive sectors, where it is necessary to convert the achievement of a certain pressure into an electrical signal. This signal can be used as input to start a machine cycle or as an alarm to monitor potential anomalies, such as pressure leaks, malfunctions, or critical conditions.
These components are calibrated based on the specific application and include pressure switches, vacuum switches, and pressure transducers.
There are four main types of electrical outputs:
- Normally open contacts (SPST – N.O.)
- Normally closed contacts (SPST – N.C.)
- Changeover contacts (SPDT)
- Continuous analog signal
Pressure calibration is done using an adjustment screw that acts on a spring. The spring opposes the fluid pressure on the sensing element (which can be a diaphragm or piston), allowing the electrical contact to open or close only when the preset pressure value is reached.
In normally open (N.O.) models, the circuit remains open until the pressure exceeds the threshold, then the contact closes.
In normally closed (N.C.) models, the circuit is closed at rest but opens when the pressure exceeds the set value.
In SPDT pressure switches, the pressure triggers an internal microswitch that allows the use of N.O., N.C., or both contacts, making them very versatile.
Euroswitch pressure switches are available with both fixed and adjustable calibration and are designed in full compliance with current European directives and regulations.
